Why couples should consider prenuptial agreements

Prenuptial agreements can be ideal for those getting married in Tennessee and other states. This is true regardless of how wealthy they may be. One potential benefit of a prenuptial agreement is that it solidifies the terms under which a divorce will take place. They can also be used to determine what happens to student loan or other debt held by one person but paid off using the other's funds. The agreement could state that the other spouse is entitled to compensation or other considerations in exchange for the financial assistance.

Prenups and second marriages

Tennessee residents who get married for the first time earlier in life, such as during their 20s and 30s, may not be overly concerned about completing a prenuptial agreement. They may not have significant assets, so getting a divorce could be a very simple matter. However, for people who get married for a second time later in life, such as during their 50s or 60s, a prenuptial agreement is necessary.

The proper way to amend a prenuptial agreement

Those looking to get married in Tennessee or any other state may benefit from creating a prenuptial agreement. However, once the marriage becomes official, it is not possible to amend that agreement. Instead, it is necessary to create a new pact that addresses any issues that have come up since the marriage occurred. For instance, if a person received an inheritance, an arrangement created by a married couple could say that it is separate property.

Jenni "JWoww" Farley's husband wants prenup dismissed

Tennessee fans of the TV show "Jersey Show" may have heard that Jenni "JWoww" Farley filed for divorce from her husband of three years, Roger Mathews, in September 2018 on the grounds of irreconcilable differences. She asked for primary physical custody of their children with visitation rights for Mathews. She also asked for child support and that their prenuptial agreement be upheld.
