Biography
Born in Knoxville and raised in Oak Ridge, attorney Lisa Collins Werner is a Tennessee native with Bachelors of Science degree from Tennessee Tech University and a law degree from St. Louis University School of Law. While in Law School she was a member of the St. Louis Review and the St. Louis Law Journal. She has been practicing law since 1992 and is licensed to practice in three states: Tennessee, Illinois and Missouri. She has lived throughout the country before returning to Tennessee in 2003.
She is trained in collaborative divorce, and is a Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 listed mediator for general civil and family law cases. Additionally, she has chaired the ADR Section of the Knoxville Bar Association and was the co-chair of the Collaborative Law Committee for the Tennessee Bar Association. Lisa is currently on the board for East Tennessee Collaborative Alliance, now Divorce Well Knoxville. She serves on the Access to Justice Committee for the Knoxville Bar Association. She also serves as a pro bono legal consultant for Administer Justice Legal Ministry through Cokesbury United Methodist Church. Lisa was a former board member of the Community Mediation Center.
However, law was not Ms. Werner's only career. In fact, she has been a successful entrepreneur, and she has developed and sold several successful businesses. She understands business and what it takes to build a multimillion-dollar company from the ground up. This diverse background gives her a unique perspective when it comes to family law, particularly in the areas of divorce and the division of complex assets such as ownership in partnerships and other businesses.
Lisa is the proud mother of a daughter who is a recent college graduate from the University of Vermont in biology and is getting ready to attend graduate school.
For leisure time, Lisa enjoys playing tennis, biking, cooking, the arts and travel both nationally and internationally.
